4-day tour from Tangier to the Merzouga desert and Marrakech
4-day tour from Tangier to the Merzouga desert and Marrakech: a private, tailor-made trip with your own driver and a flexible itinerary.
From Tangier port to Marrakech in four days, across the Rif, the Middle Atlas and the Sahara.
Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen – Fes
Pick-up at the port or airport and a drive through the Rif mountains via Tetouan to Chefchaouen, at the foot of the Rif, with its Spanish-style square, craft shops and rooftop cafés. Lunch and on to Fes. Night in a riad.
Day 2: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga
South via Ifrane, Azrou and the Middle Atlas, stopping in the cedar forests to see Barbary macaques in their habitat. Over the Tizi n’Talghemt pass to Midelt and along the Ziz Gorges, the landscape turns to desert. After lunch Erfoud, Rissani and Merzouga. Mint tea, luggage stored safely and a 90-minute camel ride to a Berber camp among the Erg Chebbi dunes, the highest in North Africa. Tents with mattresses and blankets, dinner and Berber drums around the fire under the stars.
Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Across the desert to old Rissani and the Todra Gorges, where you can walk along the river among rock climbers and mud-brick villages. Night in the Dades Valley.
Day 4: Dades Valley – Valley of Roses – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
The road of a thousand kasbahs, Kelaa M’Gouna and the Valley of Roses (rose festival in May), the Skoura palm grove. Visit Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO site since 1987, and back over the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m) to Marrakech in the evening.
This itinerary is tailor-made: any stop can be changed and we will gladly adapt it.
