4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Erg Chegaga: a private, tailor-made trip with your own driver and a flexible itinerary.

This tour reaches Erg Chegaga, the most remote desert in Morocco. On the way you visit Telouet, Ait Ben Haddou, the Draa Valley and Tamegroute. You also return via Lake Iriki, an old Paris-Dakar Rally track.

Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi n’Tichka – Telouet – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate

After breakfast we cross the Atlas over the Tizi n’Tichka, at 2,260 metres. First, we visit the Telouet kasbah, built by Pasha El Glaoui. Then we drive down the Ounila Valley, with Berber villages and beautiful scenery. Before lunch we visit Ait Ben Haddou, a World Heritage Site since 1987. Many films were shot here. Night in Ouarzazate.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Zagora – Tamegroute – Erg Chegaga

We leave at 8:30 for the Draa Valley, full of date palms. We have lunch in Zagora. Then, in Tamegroute, we visit one of the oldest Koranic libraries in the country. We also see local craftsmen at work. Next, we continue to M’Hamid. From there we drive about 40 km of track to the Chegaga dunes. We watch the sunset and sleep at a camp in the middle of nowhere.

Day 3: Erg Chegaga – Lake Iriki – Foum Zguid – Taznakht – Ouarzazate

We get up early for sunrise and breakfast. Then we cross the dry Lake Iriki, a plain dotted with acacias and nomad tents. We stop for a picnic lunch. Next, we continue via Foum Zguid and Taznakht to Ouarzazate. Night at the hotel.

Day 4: Ouarzazate – Tizi n’Tichka – Marrakech

In the morning we visit Ouarzazate: the Taourirt kasbah and the film studios. Then we have lunch at a Berber restaurant. In the afternoon we return to Marrakech over the Tizi n’Tichka.
