10-day tour from Casablanca: a private, tailor-made trip with your own driver and a flexible itinerary.
A complete trip starting and ending in Casablanca: imperial cities, the Sahara, the southern kasbahs and the Essaouira coast.
Day 1: Casablanca – Fes
Airport pick-up, a visit to the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest in the Islamic world, and on to Fes, the country’s cultural capital. Dinner and night in a riad.
Day 2: Fes
A free day in Fes: in the medina time seems to go backwards, with craft guilds, laden donkeys, the Andalusian quarter, mosques and madrasas. Then Fes el-Jdid with the Royal Palace and the Mellah.
Day 3: Fes – Volubilis – Meknes
The Roman ruins of Volubilis, the holy town of Moulay Idriss and Meknes, the capital of Sultan Moulay Ismail, with Bab Mansour and el-Hedim square. Night in a riad or hotel.
Day 4: Meknes – Middle Atlas – Ziz Valley – Merzouga
Ifrane, the “Switzerland of Morocco”, the monkeys in the Azrou cedars, the Ziz gorges, Errachidia and Erfoud, the fossil capital. Arrival in Merzouga and a night in a hotel near the dunes.
Day 5: Merzouga – Khamlia – night in the desert
By 4×4 to the oasis and the Gnawa village of Khamlia for its music, and a loop of the dunes on the Paris-Dakar track. Around 4 pm we switch to camels for two hours among the great dunes. A night in a nomad tent with sunset, stars and sunrise.
Day 6: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades
Sunrise and a dromedary ride back for a shower and breakfast. Rissani, the fossil-marble workshop in Erfoud, the Touroug and Tinejdad palm groves and the Todra Gorges, with lunch and a half-hour walk. Night in the Dades Gorges.
Day 7: Dades – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
The road of a thousand kasbahs, the Valley of Roses and the Skoura palm grove. In Ouarzazate the Taourirt kasbah, former residence of the Glaoui. Over the Tizi n’Tichka, arriving in Marrakech around 5 pm.
Day 8: Marrakech
Jemaa el-Fna square, the Majorelle Garden, the Menara, the Saadian Tombs, the medina, the Mellah, the ramparts and Gueliz, the modern city.
Day 9: Marrakech – Essaouira
Three hours to Essaouira, a haven for surfers and artists: beaches, argan trees, a white-and-blue medina, fresh fish and sunsets. Optional cooking class, hammam, or horse and dromedary rides on the beach. Night in a charming riad.
Day 10: transfer to Casablanca airport
At the agreed time, transfer to Casablanca airport. End of our services.
