2-day desert tour from Fes to Merzouga: a private, tailor-made trip with your own driver and a flexible itinerary.

It is the fastest way to get from Fes to the great dunes of Merzouga. In two days you cross the Middle Atlas, sleep in the desert and return to Fes. So it fits well into a short trip to Morocco.

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga

We pick you up at your hotel or riad in Fes. Then we head south, across the Middle Atlas and its cedar forests. This mountain range is about 350 kilometres long. First, we pass Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its houses and ski resort.

Next, we continue to Azrou, a well-known Berber town. Then we cross the Ziz Valley and pass through Midelt and Erfoud. From there we take the desert road. In the afternoon we reach Merzouga, facing the Erg Chebbi dunes. We enjoy a welcome tea and leave the luggage. After that, we ride into the dunes to the camp. Dinner and night in a tent, under the stars.

Day 2: Merzouga – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Azrou – Fes

The day begins with sunrise in the desert. Then we ride back by dromedary. Next, we start the journey back to Fes. On the way we pass through the Tafilalt and Rissani, the cradle of the Alaouite dynasty. Then we cross Azrou and Ifrane. In the cedar forest we stop to see the monkeys. We reach Fes in the late afternoon.

Good to know

It is an intense tour, with many hours on the road. However, it lets you see the desert even if you are short on time. If you can, we recommend the 3 or 4-day tour, because the pace is more relaxed. The tour is private, so we can adjust it to your schedule.
