12-day tour from Marrakech: a private, tailor-made trip with your own driver and a flexible itinerary.
A full loop from Marrakech: the deep south, the Sahara, Fes, the blue city and the Atlantic coast.
Day 1: airport – Marrakech
Airport pick-up with a name sign and transfer to your riad. A first taste of Jemaa el-Fna square, with storytellers, music and food stalls.
Day 2: Marrakech
The medina and Jemaa el-Fna square and, if your flight times allow, a guided visit of the monuments with a guide specialised in history.
Day 3: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades
Departure at 8:30 am, the Tizi n’Tichka with scenic stops and Ait Ben Haddou, set for Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy and Gladiator. Lunch in the village, the Taourirt kasbah in Ouarzazate, the Skoura palm grove and the Valley of Roses, home of the Damask rose. Night in the Dades Valley.
Day 4: Dades – Todra Gorges – Merzouga – night in a tent
A view over the Dades kasbahs and a walk in the Todra Gorges. Lunch in Tinejdad or Touroug, then an hour by dromedary to the camp in Erg Chebbi for sunset. Dinner and a night under the stars.
Day 5: Merzouga desert – nomads – Khamlia – Erg Chebbi loop
Sunrise from the Great Dune, breakfast and a loop of Erg Chebbi on Paris-Dakar tracks with the Algerian mountains behind. A nomad community and the village of Khamlia with a short Gnawa concert over tea.
Day 6: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Middle Atlas – Ifrane – Fes
The Tafilalet palm grove, one of the largest in the world, the viewpoint over the Ziz Valley and Aoufous, lunch in Midelt, the cedar forest with its monkeys and Ifrane, the “Switzerland of Morocco”. Arrival in Fes around 6 pm.
Day 7: Fes
A full day in the medina of Fes el-Bali, a UNESCO site, entering through Bab Boujloud.
Day 8: Fes – Chefchaouen
Three and a half hours through the mountains to Chefchaouen. Lunch, a free afternoon in the blue lanes and sunset from the Spanish mosque.
Day 9: Chefchaouen – Rabat – Casablanca
In Rabat the Kasbah of the Udayas and the Hassan Tower, then Casablanca for the night.
Day 10: Casablanca – Essaouira
The Hassan II Mosque and on to Essaouira, a lovely small town on the coast.
Day 11: Essaouira – Marrakech
Half a day for the ramparts, the port, the ocean and the medina, then lunch and back to Marrakech. Night in a riad.
Day 12: Marrakech – airport
Transfer to the airport for your flight.
