Day 1: airport – Marrakech
Airport pick-up with a name sign and transfer to your riad. A first taste of Jemaa el-Fna square, with storytellers, music and food stalls.
Day 2: Marrakech
The medina and Jemaa el-Fna square and, if your flight allows, a guided visit of the monuments. North of the square lies the souk, where each section is named after what it sells or the craftsmen working there: dyers, carpenters, blacksmiths.
Day 3: Marrakech – Casablanca – Rabat
The Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, then Rabat: the Mechouar around the Royal Palace, the Kasbah of the Udayas and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. Night in Rabat.
Day 4: Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Fes
Meknes with its palaces, mosques and one of Morocco’s most important souks, then the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO site. Arrival in Fes.
Day 5: guided Fes
A full day with a local guide in the medina of Fes el-Bali, a UNESCO site, starting at Bab Boujloud.
Day 6: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Errachidia – Ziz Valley – Merzouga
The Middle Atlas cedars and their monkeys, Ifrane and Azrou, a centre for cedar-wood crafts. Lunch in Midelt, then the Ziz Valley and Erfoud to the Merzouga dunes.
Day 7: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi
A 4×4 loop: the Merzouga oasis, nomad lands, the Gnawa village of Khamlia, the Mifiss mines and the plateaus. In the evening you sleep among the dunes in a nomad tent, with a Berber dinner, music and an unforgettable starry sky.
Day 8: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Sunrise in the desert, a camel ride back for breakfast and a shower, then the Todra Gorges and the Dades Valley.
Day 9: Dades – Valley of Roses – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
The valley of a thousand kasbahs, Kelaa M’Gouna and Skoura, the Taourirt kasbah in Ouarzazate, lunch and a visit to Ait Ben Haddou. Back over the Tizi n’Tichka (2,260 m) to Marrakech.
Day 10: Marrakech – airport
Breakfast, free time and transfer to the airport.
