7-day tour from Rabat to the Merzouga desert: a private, tailor-made trip with your own driver and a flexible itinerary.
This tour starts in Rabat and ends in Marrakech. On the way you visit Meknes and Fes. Then you spend two nights in the Merzouga desert. Finally, you return via the Todra, Ouarzazate and the High Atlas.
Day 1: Rabat – Meknes – Fes
We pick you up wherever you like and set off for Fes. First, we skirt the Mamora forest, one of the country’s most important green areas. Then we stop for lunch in Meknes, an imperial city. Its medina is small and traditional, so it is easy to explore. In the afternoon we continue to Fes. Night in Fes.
Day 2: Guided tour of Fes
Today a local guide shows you the highlights of the Fes medina. You walk its lanes, craft workshops and monuments. Night in Fes.
Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Middle Atlas – Erfoud – Merzouga
After breakfast we leave for Ifrane. On the way we stop for photos in the Middle Atlas. Then we pass through Erfoud. In the afternoon we reach the Merzouga desert. Night by the dunes.
Day 4: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – nomads – Merzouga
Today we enjoy the magic of the dunes. Early on we take a 4×4 trip through the desert. First, we pass Lake Dayet Srji, where many birds spend the winter, especially flamingos. Then we stop in Khamlia, a Gnawa and Berber village of sub-Saharan origin. Its people are warm and music is part of their culture.
At nightfall the desert changes colour and it gets quite cool. We have dinner to the beat of the drums. Afterwards a big campfire keeps us company until bedtime.
Day 5: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Ouarzazate
The dromedaries take us back to the hotel for a shower and breakfast. Then we stop in Rissani, famous for its market. It was the last trading post before the desert. Its souks are full of colours and the smell of spices. Next, we reach the Todra Gorges, with walls over 100 metres high. There we take a quiet walk by the river. In the afternoon we continue to Ouarzazate.
Day 6: Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech
In the morning we visit the main sights of Ouarzazate. In the afternoon we head to Marrakech over the Tizi n’Tichka pass, at 2,260 metres. The landscape turns from orange to green. We reach Marrakech mid-afternoon and drop you at your hotel or riad.
Day 7: Marrakech – airport
We wait until your flight time and take you to the airport.
