Itinerary

The road crosses the High Atlas through picturesque valleys, Berber villages and mineral sellers to the Tizi n’Tichka, the highest pass in the Atlas at 2,260 m, snow-capped from November to April. Beyond the mountains the landscape turns semi-desert, dotted with kasbahs and mud-and-straw houses among emerald fields.

We visit Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed fortified village loved by film directors, then Ouarzazate, on the edge of the Sahara: the Taourirt kasbah, former residence of Pasha Glaoui, and the Atlas film studios. Back in Marrakech in the evening.
