4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga: a private, tailor-made trip with your own driver and a flexible itinerary.

With four days, the trip to the Merzouga desert can be enjoyed at a relaxed pace. The route is also a loop: you go via the Dades and Todra and return through the Draa Valley. That is why it is one of our favourite routes from Marrakech.

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

We leave Marrakech for the High Atlas over the Tizi n’Tichka pass. Along the way we see Berber villages at the foot of the mountains. Then we reach Ouarzazate, the capital of cinema. Next, we follow the road of a thousand kasbahs. Later we take a track to enjoy the peace of the mountains, home to nomad families. In the afternoon we reach the Dades Gorges. Night at the hotel.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga

After breakfast we head for the desert. First, we stop at the Todra Gorges, one of the most impressive places in Morocco. There you can walk between the rock walls. Then we continue to Merzouga. In the afternoon the dromedary ride into the dunes begins. Finally, we reach the camp. Night in a tent in the middle of Erg Chebbi.

Day 3: desert – Rissani – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate

After sunrise we return to the hotel for breakfast. Then we go to Rissani, where we visit its traditional souk, one of the largest in the south. Next, we cross the Draa Valley and its millions of palm trees. In the afternoon we reach Ouarzazate. Night in a hotel or riad.

Day 4: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Tizi n’Tichka – Marrakech

After breakfast we visit the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. It is a World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved ksour. Then we cross the Tizi n’Tichka again, at 2,260 metres. It is the highest road pass in Morocco. Finally, we reach Marrakech at the end of the day.
